Experts release 2006 forecast

The hurricane season won't be Greek to us next year, says William Gray's Colorado State University hurricane-forecasting team, and chances of four major hurricanes striking the U.S. again are slim.

Yet, Gray is predicting a double-the-average storm season in 2006 with 17 named storms (reaching only the letter R in hurricane names), nine of which could become hurricanes and five of which are expected to develop into major storms, with winds of 111 mph or more.

I don't know who created this, but I got it in an email today and thought it was funny. The only corelation this has to weather is the fact that after Hurricane Katrina, the price of gas here in Atlanta shot up to over $3.00 a gallon.

If anyone knows who created this, please let me know so that I may give proper credit to the author. Thanks!

Hi Everyone!! I have spent most of today online, searching the net, posting on message boards, and in a chat room where people were in desperate need of information on friends, family, and the possibilities of starting a new life in a new area. Some I think were looking for a friendly ear just to listen to them for a few moments, others were asking desperately for anyone to give them any information that we could find about their home towns, if we've heard how the evacuation was going, all sorts of things. What I did come to find was that a lot of people were in need of some basic information, including emergency phone numbers to the areas that were devastated due to Hurricane Katrina. So I will attempt to place resources here that may help to provide that information. I realize that there are other websites out there that do contain this information, they are being logged down due to high traffic on the site, I think the more out there the better. Hopefully something that I list here will be of help in one way or another.

Also, for those in need, I offer my services of making telephone calls to anyone that you may need to reach, I can also help search the other message boards, forums, chats, etc for information.
